P.O. Box vs. Package address

I know that to ship packages to school you use the dorm name and address and your room number. But for regular mail, magazines, etc. are you given a PO box at school? My HS and other places are asking for my mailing address but since we start school so much later that most everyone else, I don't know when I will actually have it.

Thanks.

It's your address at school- no difference between packages and letters- address them the same. I believe up to a week before you get there for regular mail, and 2 weeks (though verify that) before for packages.

From my understanding..I am a Mom of a sophomore...for USPS...you use your name, the address of the dorm-but not the dorm name-and Evanston,Il and zip. You do NOT use Northwestern University because it ends up in the colleges mail room-and TAKES forever to get to you in your dorm. The mail is then held at the delivery dorm, and distributed or held for you to pickup when school starts. If you ship items, then those items may be held in another dorm as a holding place. That holding place will be mention in your instruction letter for incoming students. G'Luck-and Congrats!!

Thank you. Many schools give PO boxes that stay with you so I wasn't sure how it worked.

@ fracto

This will be your official address if you live in a dorm at Northwestern:

Your Name
Dorm Name + Your Room Number
Street Address
City, State and Zip Code

Or, if the businesses only have three lines available to fill out, you write this:

Your Name
Street Address + Your Dorm Number
City, State and Zip Code

They will just assume you live in an apartment, and dorm living is similar to that.

September 11th is the FIRST day the package centers will be accepting packages--do NOT send packages that will arrive before that date, or else there is a LARGE likelihood that they will be sent back.

^this date is unpublished as far as I've seen, but I JUST got word from the mailroom people.

Before you Arrive: Shipping Your Belongings, Orientation and Parent Programs, Student Affairs, Northwestern University

Schedule delivery for September 11 or later. Packages arriving earlier than this will be returned to sender.
