P2/BHP Student Taking Question

Favorite things about UT:

 1. Diversity: Being 50,000+students, there are an amazingly far range of people with so many different interests. You’re bound to find someone who shares the same interest and someone else and someone else… There’s very little insularity if you’re looking for a whole range of friends.
 2. Huge amount of resources: It’s such a vast school that you can find so many top-notch research, internship, leadership, and so forth resources.
 3. Lack of pretense: Being in Texas and I think just being a great, but not necessarily top, school, makes UT very humble. We are always looking to improve and seek out knowledge. Most people just aren’t arrogant in the same way that I know people from other top-tier schools are. The same applies to professors. ALL of them are so truly approachable and you can build a great relationship with them.
 4. Strong network: Whether you’re looking for a job or simply find yourself in a new city, it’s great to have a strong alumni base who supports each other–something made even strong if you’re in Plan II/BHP, but being a Longhorn oddly enough gets stronger once you’re outside of Texas. You can take full advantage of this to plan your next step in life. And again, everyone is so nice and humble to help out.

Favorite things about ATX

 1. It’s a city: While ATX isn’t SF or NYC or even Dallas, it has a great amount of amazing restaurants and nightlife going on 10 minutes from campus. And it’s actually good! With Austin being so small, it’s nice to have the city aspects but the college town aspects as well.
 2. Music: ACL and SXSW, need I say more?
 3. Good enough resources to use: There are a good amount of businesses and start-ups starting to build in the city so it’s cool to take advantage of them and just be a part of a city that is on the rise
 4. Relatively cheap: College students looking to get more bang for their buck should go here!

Amazing, I cannot wait. I can only imagine how much fun I’ll have down there this fall. Thank you so much for the detailed answer!

I was rejected to BHP but accepted to Plan II. I want to combine Plan II with business (maybe finance or accounting). Is there anyway for me to take BHP classes, or should I just take classes with the general business school?

@mlaitkep, so BHP classes are only open to BHP students. If you are looking to apply to BHP as a sophomore transfer (which I personally recommend) and get in, then you can only take a maximum of one non-BHP class your freshmen year to count toward your BHP degree, so it would be wiser to take classes that fulfill core requirements, Plan II requirements and things of that sort before anything else.
