I would think it’s prohibited but hope it isn’t. I think p2p programs are blocked at most colleges.

Resnet acceptable use policy:

That’s to say that I don’t think Texas filters their internet, but officially, you are not supposed to be doing anything that’s shady.

"# You acknowledge that:

I would be led to believe that illegal downloading of music especially using UT’s internet is rampant.

I don’t know of many people that download music legally, even one of my friends(who’s parents are loaded rich and lives in a million dollar mansion) downloads music illegally.

Haha yeah right emule and torrenting without copyrighted material. Bittorrent is fine if your not doing any illegal activity, if you get caught by(for instance I got caught by HBO, UT doesn’t monitor itself), then you will get a notice the first time, and suspension the second. If you download music and get caught, then your screwed.

I think UT takes illegal downloading pretty seriously.
My roommate knows a girl who was fined $10.000 for “damages” (downloading songs)…

If you use Resnet they can catch you if you download illegal music and you can get fined, big time. I know two people who this happened to already.

P2P is allowed:
[Resnet - Options: Choosing the Right Bandwidth](http://resnet.utexas.edu/options/choose.html)

It specifically says “file sharing” but I’m not sure what the line is between ‘legal’ and ‘illegal’

^ good eye my friend. :P

“Level III or IV” cannot be used for “Social Networking (Facebook, MySpace)”
? That doesn’t make sense…

Idk man, it seems like they would spy on students big time haha…
