PA state school road trip! If you're familiar with PASSHE schools, your input is especially welcome!

Basically, 30, 33 34, 35, and 36 only require a C in Algebra I in high school. NO other pre-req. And you said she did get at least high C’s in Algebra 1 (perhaps even Algebra 2???)

I looked and found…
https://www.math.psu.edu/ug/courses/math034
As for 036:
-This course is one of several offered by the Mathematics Department with the goal of helping students from non-technical majors partially satisfy their General Education Quantification (GQ) requirement. In this course, we hope to demonstrate to the students that mathematics is very useful in contemporary problems in our society - from voting theory issues to apportionment of the seats in the U.S. House of Representatives to optimizing the route taken by a delivery person and a variety of other issues. We focus on historical issues related to such contemporary problems and also discuss the merits of various problem–solving techniques throughout the course.-

I just checked and both 34 and 36 ( “math and citizenship”) are offered online from Penn state world campus.

For Stats I believe that there’s Stats 100 (which is a basic stats course that has NO pre-reqs) or PSYCH 200 which is stats applied to social science/Psychology (would be interesting to her) or SCM 200 is a Basic Stats applied to business course.

*****And guess what? Stats 100 IS offered this summer, online!
She can take any two from the “30” sequence, or, recommended, one “30” class and Stats 100.

Requiring two units of HS algebra AND the class CRIMJ100, there’s also CRIMJ 260 “Statistical Analysis for the Social Sciences”, which consists in… “Methods of collection, presentation, and analysis of quantitative data in the social science; procedures, interpretation, and application.”
Requiring Math 021 or equivalent + Psych 100, there’s Psych200.

Thanks for the course numbers! She will need to eventually take Psych 200. And she did take Algebra I and II in high school, C+ in I and C in II. She’s not taking anything until Fall. I know she met with an advisor but I’m not sure if she’s made a decision about what to take yet.

Why not take Stats 100 this summer, online? From the comfort of her home, it should lessen her anxiety. She manages the class on her own terms. You can be her tutor instead of having to go to a tutoring center.
Then she can take Psych 200 with a good background in the subject.
(I don’t think it’s impossible to take both but do check in the “catalog” if they say something like “students who passed Stats 100 can’t take Psych 200”. I really don’t think so.)
But even if she doesn’t want to take a class online, you now have the course numbers.

@pitt2021 - How does your brother like the Edinboro winter? We drove through about a month ago and I swear it was blizzard like weather. The campus itself…was very nice looking. Much different than we had anticipated.

@bester1 I’m not sure if you saw when you drive through but they have an inside bridge that connects the dorm area to the class area so that is definitely nice during the winter. He never really complained and o think he enjoyed the one time they canceled his class. We never lived outside of PA so it wasn’t a huge adjustment but overall I don’t think it was a big deal for him. He normally longboards to class so I’m sure he didn’t like that but the bridge definitely is nice.

@pitt2021 - I saw that bridge. It was pretty cool…kind of like a skywalk.

We are going to check out IUP this week and West Chester next week. At least that is the plan. Should be interesting.

We took a visit to Gannon University in Erie. A nice tour led by a Physician Assistant major. Met with an admissions counselor. Very nice, young and informative.Daughter would likely get into the honors program. Swim coach was great and described what my daughter’s role on the team would be and it was significant. Wife went there. Sunny day in Erie…went to presque isle and enjoyed the beach. Very busy. Get in the car and she says…I don’t think Gannon is for me…lol…I am hoping she will go back for an overnight visit…but this process is very interesting and challenging for me to figure out!!!
