I'm from Philly, and I turn 17 on the 29th of this month. I've had my permit for almost a year (it'll be a year on the 30th), and my parents just told me I can get my license, after much poking and prodding on my part. I just finished signing up on dmv.org and I have all my papers ready for Sat. I also am pretty confident that I will pass.

Having said that, I am a little nervous. There is, after all, always the chance that I might fail because I get too jittery during the test or something. I've been driving for almost a year now, and I would describe my driving ability as "competent". I won't fail, will I? Give me tips for the test if you can. Thanks

I failed my test within the first minute. You do have to be extra careful because you will be nervous. I made a really stupid mistake that I wouldn't have made if I wasn't nervous.

Umm...look around a lot so you're being observant.

Umm, I'm sure you're not as stupid, but I tried to make a left turn and forgot to wait for oncoming traffic to pass first :o
Yea, almost crashing will definitely make you fail.

This guy failed within the first minute too.
He buckled up but the instructor didn't buckle up.
He started the car, and the instructor failed him because he didn't make sure everyone else in the car was buckled up.
So remember to buckle up, and make sure your instructor is buckled up, check your mirrors, stop completely at all red stop signs, all that good stuff

Try to calm down... I did fine when I was calm, but i got really nervous when it became trafficky and i ended up with an automatic fail, but i still say my tester was mean and unfair... He said i went into oncoming traffic when i was making a left turn, but i was in the intersection when it was green... Grr... So yeah, just try to calm down and you'll do fine... It just a test... And its not the end of the world if you dont pass... And good luck!

Don't worry, I aced it and I suck at driving. Just fiddle around with your mirrors a lot, check them way too many times and drive safer and slower than anyone ever should.

1 suggestion ... try to relax. If you mess up and fail the test once it really is not that big a deal ... lots of people fail the test once or twice (mostly because of nerves). I'm 46 and do not know anyone my age still trying to pass the test ... it seems everyone makes it in 2 or 3 tries when they are young!

Watch your speed limit constantly hehe...I failed my first time for going only three over for about thirty seconds, but I still did techinically "speed". That was the worst feeling I ever had in my life.

Look over ur right shoulder when making a right turn! The lady in front of me failed becuz she forgot to do that. I know it seems tedious (I mean ****, who cares about bikers?). Also keep scanning and looking at sidestreets. Good luck.

also, keep in mind that out of all the tests you could fail in life, this one is almost unequivocally the least important. If you gave me ten points on the SAT for every time I failed, I'd probably still be taking it. :)
