Pace University BFA Acting Feedback

Hi!
I received a call back from Pace's online program, Acceptd, and flew to an in person audition. I was really displeased with the way things were handled. It was overwhelming considering 180 people were there, including B.A. programs & Musical Theatre. There were two groups per session, I believe in accordance to last name. In place of the original two monologues, we got up there and they cut it to one. In the 90 seconds I auditioned, one man was texting (the entire time) and the others did not even look up from my resume except in the last 10-15 seconds of the monologue. I went downstairs to check the call back list, and they called back THREE people out of all who attended. Out of both sessions, they only called back boys, which also surprised me considering the majority were females. My dismay is the fact that they called back a PLETHORA of students, who flew from all over the country, to only call back such a small amount each time. Literally, out of the entire day only 6 students were called back for movement.

I wish luck to all who pursue the school, as it offers an incredible program, but be aware their call back list is tiny and in general, the vibe of the program is much more intense rather than comforting.

That’s the way it is at most of the audition based programs…many audition, very few get in. My D also auditioned for Pace…she loved it, but they only accept 20 students. If you think Pace was bad, Wagner’s audition was a million times worse… 5 hours of torture, and my poor D was the very last one to audition…do you think they were even listening by then? They only let her do one song and one monologue. Cross them off the list!
