One of the few U.S. museums dedicated to the arts and culture of Asia announced an affiliation with USC. The Pacific Asia Museum in Pasadena, CA has a collection of more than 17,000 objects of art. Prominent holdings include the Harari Collection of Japanese paintings from the Edo period (1600-1868). It also includes one of the largest collections of Japanese folk paintings outside of Japan and collections of Chinese ceramics and textiles.

The new partnership will preserve the museum's mansion in Pasadena as an art museum and will provide academic opportunities for USC students in the six art schools, particularly students of art history, East Asian cultures, religion and archeology. The new name of the museum will be the USC Pacific Asia Museum.
