Hello college folks, how many formal outfits should I be prepared to pack this year? What kind of events would come up in which I would need one? By formal, I actually mean two different ways: one is just the nice type for job interviews or etc (what else are they needed for?), and the other=fancy dresses (again, what would they be needed for?).

BUSINESS CASUAL/FORMAL

-two dress shirts
-one suit jacket
-two pairs of dress pants
-business-y shoes
These would be needed for possible interviews, occasionally career fairs (you can go casual but it's much better to be at least business casual)

OTHER
-one dance dress (most schools have formals and such; you'll need more than one obviously if you're going to rush a sorority)
-one daytime-ish dress (receptions and such)
-heels, as versatile as possible if you don't want to bring a lot of stuff

You can always buy (it's fun to dress shop w/ friends!), or have your parents send something from home

I agree. You never know if you will be attending fraternity events, like formals, or what. Besides you will want to have a formal dress for homecoming and such. I agree with sweetdreams87

Business-y outfits are great for giving class presentations, applying for jobs, etc.
