Packing for orientation

How much stuff did you guys bring to the three day orientation? Was it mainly just clothing and the necessary documents? Will a backpack suffice? How much stuff do we receive during orientation to bring home? Appreciate the help.

Clothes for like two days… you will have a towel provided + sheets and pillow… You don’t really need documents unless you don’t remember your AP scores… but bring your transcript stuff other than your high school’s (but you don’t need to anyways)
You can bring a backpack if you want, but you will get a UCLA bag on day 1… you should bring snacks in case you get hungry like me  and water cause you gotta stay hydrated…
Stuff you get to bring home depends on you but basically you get a pin, bag, calendar, agenda, papers, poster, blah blah…
O yeah… toothbrush, soap, shampoo -_- shower sandals? Think that’s it…

^ yeah, try to pack as lightly as possible for orientation. You don’t need any nice clothes or anything, so just a few changes of casual clothes and some toiletries and you’re golden.

Thank you both for the replies.

I just stuffed a laptop backpack with all my stuff: 2 days of clothes, laptop, toiletries, etc.

BRING A BLANKET! The one they give you is **** and covers maybe half a short person’s body. Plus it’s really thin. I actually brought mine because my friend did early arrival and told me to, and my roommate didn’t. I felt sorry for her both nights =/

I found that if the sheet and blanket don’t overlap, they’ll cover you. Also you may want to turn the AC off in the room at night.

What’s the temperature in LA?

It’s been in the 80’s during the day. Not sure about night, but it’s comfortable outside without any type of jacket, so I would guess around 70.

Eh, the blankets were surprisingly nice IMO, but I had the ac blowing in my face at night lmao. My roomate and I couldn’t turn it off properly, but hey I survived

Bring towels and soap! Well, I’m always washing my hands and face so they were a great neccesity.

when i went last year around this time, it was super hot. you don’t need much, but i would recommend bringing your laptop if you’ve got one. you spend one whole day planning your class schedule, and you won’t have to wait for a computer if you just bring your own.
