PAE discrepencies????

Ive noticed that the west point CFA, Naval academy cfa, and the Air force slightly differ. For example, the WEst point CFA requires mile run, basketball toss, pullups, situps, pushups and the shuttle run. However, the airforce academy includes a long jump http://www.academyadmissions.com/admissions/eligibility/pae/instructions.htm I find this quite odd. I thought all of them were the same? Does anyone have any insight? And, when do you think is a good time to arrange a time for my CFA? i have been considereing maybe late october.

That's because USAFA hasn't updated the website. If you download the applicant instruction packet it has the same CFA guidelines as the rest of the academies.

ah ok, but when do you guys suggest shceudling that pae???

When you know you will do very well on all parts of the test.

would suggest practicing until you are reasonably satisfied with your results...having said that, suggest you get it done as soon as possible (or at least in line with when the rest of your application is complete so it can be considered by the admissions board- the earlier the better)....we found it difficult to set up an appointment with the HS coaches once classes started in sept as they were busy not only with the academic year, but then with their respective team practices and tryouts after school hours....as was our son....by the time he finished with his own sport practices (usually about 3 hrs after school and on saturdays) there was not much time (or a fully charged battery!) after a hard practice to then do the entire PAE with the aim of a max score....and then add in the end of daylight savings time and homework and there was not much time left in the day, or so it seemed.....so it took us a few weeks before we could arrange a day that was relatively "lighter" with sports/academics that the coach was available....in retrospect it would have been better to have it all done before school started....just a thought-
best of luck!
