Panther for a day vs. preview day?

I was accepted to Chapman University as an incoming freshman in the fall, and I wanted to attend something that would give me a better opportunity to see what life would be like at Chapman. Both panther for a day and preview day are options, but I am unsure what the major difference between the two are or which would be more beneficial for an incoming student, any thoughts?

D has also been accepted yet has never seen Chapman. We are going to attend both, and managed to schedule her Panther for a Day within a couple days of Preview Day so we only need to make one trip out there from VA. My thinking is that P for a D – where she can sit in on a class in her major – will give her an inside look at classes, facilities (she’s looking at Dodge), and professors. She will be able to sit down with another current student or two with her major and will get to have her specific questions answered. Preview Day, where all accepted students are invited all at once, will be a large event and she’ll get the group tours, but will also be able to meet some of her potential classmates. I’d imagine there will be a lot of excitement in the air, and campus will be overflowing. School T-shirts will be flying off the shelves at the campus store. If you can arrange it, I think attending both of these opportunities will allow you to see different facets of life at Chapman. Good luck!

I just did a Panther for a Day today actually! I can’t come out for Student Preview day, so I did this instead. I loved it. I met a few (about 12) other admitted students and even became Facebook friends with a few of them. You can visit classes in your major, look at dorms, and find out more specifics about the college than you would on just a standard tour. You also have lunch at the cafeteria. I think one of the only big differences between the two programs is the amount of admitted students that will be there. I personally liked meeting a few students at a time and then will know some if I choose to go there. And the other big difference I think is that more students going to Student Day Preview are sure they’re going to attend Chapman, while students at the Panther for a Day (including me) are still deciding if they want to go to Chapman but aren’t completely sure. Hope that helps!

Dear heyHeyHEY5282, did you see parents at your Panther for a Day? I will be dropping off my son for his mid April date, and if parents are not welcomed to tag along, I’ll have to plan my day somewhere off-campus.

Parents are allowed to stay at campus and have lunch in the cafeteria, but they aren’t allowed to be with the students. My mom went off and walked around Orange, but it’s only 2 hours so you can find things to do!

Yes I would recommend the Panther for a Day. On the preview day of course the campus will be all glommed up but if you want a feel for the true chapman then go to the Panther for a Day. The P for a Day allows you to absorb the campus as if you’re a real student
