I applied to Chapman University for Fall 2012. I have not yet received my letter from Chapman, however I did get an email invitation to be a "Panther for a Day!" From what I have read online, it seems as though this invitation is sent to admitted students... but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I haven't been able to find much information on the event except for a couple pages like this one: [url=http://ftv.chapman.edu/life/blogs/admissions/announcing_our_summer_film_institute_for_high_school_students/]Announcing our Summer Film Institute for High School Students! - Dodge College of Film and Media Arts/url. *I applied for humanities and social sciences, not film and media arts though.
I called Chapman's admissions office and they confirmed that a decision regarding my application has been made and that I would likely be receiving my letter by the end of the week (I live in Canada so getting mail here from the US usually takes longer). I'm just very curious as to why I received the Panther For a Day invite and if it might mean that I've been admitted?

Thanks! :)

Do you have a Webadvisor account? If so, then your financial aid info should be up on it if you are accepted. Chances are, you are accepted as decisions are coming out as we speak, and it’s not like they would invite you if you were rejected.

I have a somewhat related question that someone may possibly be able to answer. I am attending Panther for a Day on April 9th, during my spring break. Being from New Jersey, it’s sort of a big deal when i get to go out to California, so I am making a trip of it and bringing along two friends. Does anyone know if it would be okay to bring my friends with me to Panther for a Day? I registered for a tour, a lunch, and Critical Thinking class.

ctpddf152, I’m a potential Chapman Dad, so take this with a grain of salt.

While I think it’s great that you can travel out with your friends, I’d suggest that you send them down to Newport Beach or Disneyland for the day. I would think you’ll want to mingle with other incoming students and have an opportunity to meet with Chapman staff.

If you think you can do that with your friends in tow, go for it. But if I was them, I think I could find better things to do with my time for several hours unless, of course, they are considering Chapman as well.

JMHO

ctodd152–I just back from my Panther for a Day on Monday. I took the tour with the students and had lunch as well. I was also able to meet with the department head of my major and attend multiple classes as well. I had to set up the classes and meetings on my own, but it was worth it. Unless your friends are interested in Chapman (admitted), I would leave them behind. You will probably have a group of 10 admits with you (no parents) and questions coming from the admits are generally helpful.

Okay thank you. Thats what i figured!

ctodd152, I do have a WebAdvisor account, but I’m not exactly sure what you mean regarding financial aid info? I didn’t apply for financial aid. I only set up my account recently as there was an issue with my login info, in fact a decision was made before I could login so I’m not sure if this would have shown up before a decision was made – under my “Financial Aid” tab it provides three options: financial aid award letter, accept or reject my financial aid awards, and change my requested loan amount (though none of those apply to me). Is this what you mean by financial aid info or is there something else I’m missing?
Thanks again!

if you didn’t apply for aid, then I am not sure if this would be the case for you. However, many people (including myself) found out that they were admitted before they received the letter in the mail by seeing if they had information up on the “accept or reject” page. If you didn’t apply for aid, it’s perhaps possible that you could still have scholarship information on that page.

Ok, thanks for your help!

How long does it take for your financial aid to be posted on Webadvisor after your application status has changed to “Decision Mailed”?
