Hello, I was wondering if a parent that teaches at Northwestern will influence my chances of getting in. My mother is a professor there and 3 of my siblings went there for either undergrad or graduate school. So I was just wondering if that affects anything.

It doesn’t. /end sarcasm.

Obviously it would and more since you have legacy.

How much would it affect it?

ask your mother?

A lot, in my opinion. lol

Depends on your mom’s CTECS, obviously. /end silliness

Telescoptical, my mom doesn’t comment about it.

if you go to this site [2008-09 First-time, first-year (freshman) admission, Common Data Set - Northwestern University](http://www.ugadm.northwestern.edu/commondata/2008-09/c.htm) and scroll to C7, it tells you what is taken into consideration for applying. Alumni and being related to a teacher is considered, but not ranked as important. To me, that means that it’s definitely something nice to have on your application if it comes down to choosing between you and another student, however the other things you’ve done throughout high school will be much more important.

ok thanks.

I can’t imagine it not helping, although I don’t think the boost will be there (or as much) if you don’t apply ED. You had a chance to show you would commit if accepted but didn’t.
