Parental Advice Needed

Thanks all. For those that are interested beyond my deliberate vagueness, our 20 year old is our middle child–not the one currently looking at schools as a high school senior. We decided to tell our child tomorrow night. On Monday, We are still going on our pre-paid vacation–25th anniversary. But, if the biopsy news is bad, we will return early.

Best to you and your family.

Last month one of my adult kids had a biopsy of a suspicious mass. After a week, we were told initial tests looked like cancer but wanted to send to Stanford for confirmation. One week later, we were told mass was benign. Thinking positive thoughts for your family.

I do think your child has a right to know what you know. I had to tell my child initially and kept to the facts and was assuring without being overly emotional.

Regarding your vacation. Do what you think is right for your family. What works for one family, doesn’t work for another.

I agree, the doctor should have spoken directly to the young person who had the biopsy.

I am a reasonably calm person but when I had a biopsy and was told it didn’t look good, I had a shaking attack. Thank heavens my daughter was with me.
