Fallimg Apart, Part 2

Today I was informed I have 2 LESIONS on my liver-how bad is this? Will I have to get a biopsy or something invasive to find out? Has anyone had this problem? I will see my MD tomorrow, but I am sorta freaked out.

I don’t know. Probably hard to tell with just that info.

But best of luck tomorrow anyway.

Maybe biopsy but that is not a huge deal - outpatient - whatever they decide to do it’s will be a good thing to know what is going on. BTW mods will prolly move this to Cafe.

A friend of our’s has this. She has to go in every 6 months or so to have her lesions evaluated but for now the biopsies have determined they are just fat deposits.

Deposit sounds better than lesion…I know that they are just words, but still…Sorry to hear that your medical issues continue, FM.

I have a friend who was diagnosed with the same last year. Apparently the vast majority of liver lesions are just abnormal collections of blood vessels - she is just having hers checked periodically and was advised to do nothing for the time being. There is a more serious type that is much less common - they are cancerous lesions - but supposedly occur most frequently in African American males.

I should have mentioned that my H gets evaluated every year by ultrasound and then sometimes by CT for a lesion on the liver and a cyst on the kidney. Both, so far, are non-cancerous (he is Caucasian) but the size has been slowly slowly increasing. This has been going on since 2005. They will be very careful since you only have one liver, but it’s a good thing to follow through with whatever they tell you.
