*Note-this is a parent using son’s CC account to ask a question:
Our family is Evangelical Christian. We want our son to attend church faithfully. Are there any churches in the area which offer a college outreach program? I understand GT has an office for faith-based liaisons. What I am wondering about are the opportunities for attending and getting plugged into an evangelical youth group that faithfully attends church services and if so, what churches in the area are popular with students?
You can find a listing here: https://campusministry.georgetown.edu/protestant/affiliated
Your best bet might be to just give Protestant Campus Ministry a call and talk it over with them - they’d likely know best.
@dzleprechaun Thanks! I found that page right before you posted. Guess I should have used google before posting on here. Thanks for posting though. Good idea about calling them.
I’m a current student at Gtown and I know several people who go off campus to attend church. In particular many people in the (largely) Southern Baptist Evangelical group Campus Outreach tend to go to church together on Sundays mornings at some large church in the city, attend weekly bible studies, participate in summer service together like Summer Beach Project and engage in more standard protestant/evangelical outreach activities. Although there’s a strong Catholic presence on campus, Georgetown is a place that is generally more accepting of all varieties of religion. I’m not religious myself but I don’t drink / engage in ‘typical’ college life and I’ve found a huge number of my like-minded friends come from these religious groups and meet each other through them.
