Tyler is a great art school,we visited in November and were very impressed, new building is really nice and there are a lot of opportunities for artists in the city like Philadelphia.

mom4cw, when you get an acceptance letter in the mail, it will discuss scholarships

Just sent in enrollment deposit. housing deposit to follow!

Just wondering, we received a financial aid letter, but never received an acceptance letter or email! On our portal, all of the acceptance and aid info is there. Shouldn’t we have received a letter?

We got a letter about a week after admission info was available in the portal. I thought that was standard. I’d call admissions and let them know you never got letter. Since everything else shows she’s admitted, it’s probalby not a big deal but i’d still check with admissions.

DS decided on Tyler! Deposit made this afternoon.

@mom4cw - congrats! Hoping D will make a similar decision this weekend!

thanks @GertrudeMcFuzz.

Congrats, everything I;ve heard on tyler has been great!

My son will be going to Tyler as well :)

@midwestma are you out-of-state also? We live in Boston but have family in Philadelphia area.

We’re about 95% certain that D will be attending Boyer - other half of the building with Tyler! Preuss Hall, I think it is? Our kids will probably cross paths over the next 4 years!

@mom4cw - yes,we are out of state

cool to all!! gertrude, is your kid giong to be music or dance? and mine is going for theatre and/or communcations so he’ll be up on y’alls kids end of campus too :D. mine will be living at 1300 and is a guy. anyone else know their dorm yet? i am trying to motivate mine to get the orientation questionaire and testing done so we can set up his orientation days

So she’s just about decided, Gertrude? Yeah! I’ll be interested to hear updates as she moved through her year as Boyer is on saintboy’s list.

@ctl987 - she will be Boyer for Music - probably Music Ed, Vocal/Choral Concentration. She will also be in 1300!

@saintfan - yes, we are ALMOST ready to send in the deposit etc. Just need to clear up one thing from another school then later this week I think she will make it official.

DS will probably spend some time in the music building. He plays drums & timpani and wants to audition for one of the ensembles (as a non-major of course)

@ctl987 DS just got confirmation of his deposit. He said he should be able to choose housing tomorrow. Is there a roommate questionaire or just sign up for a room and hope for the best?

yes, there is some type of roommate system. mine just got assigned a room and roommate before he even got around to finding either. but the roommate system has something called a RMS ID and your son can use that to join a Facebook group which can help him find a roommate if he wants to go that route. I think your son sets up a profile and can look at other kid’s profiles to find someone he thinks is a good match. I assume if he finds a roommate after Temple randomly assigns him one, there is some flexibility to change. if you can’t find the rms id, let me know and i’ll get onto my son’s account to tell you where it is. I think it’s either under housing on demand, which you can access from his portal page or under Temple’s housing web page. Is your son honors cause if so, there is an extra step he has to do called a living learning community application. it’s a very simple app and then he will get placed into honors housing if he wants to live there. he may want to check out the other LLC options too in case one of them suits him. I know of one kid who is going to live in international housing and I think there is a LLC for that.

He’s not in honors so that’s not a concern. He is a Tyler student and considering their LLC but hasn’t decided if he wants to live on a floor of only art students. He did request joining at least 2 different Facebook groups today. I’ll let him know about the roommate profile match system.
