Do you know if all the Tyler students need to hold off on the laptop or Graphic Design only? My sons orientation is on August 20 - 21 and he was hoping to get a laptop by then

The rug I bought for D was a 5x7, the room in 1300 is 15x11. I bought it off of Overstock.com, got it with one of their sales for just under $100. It’s one of those shaggy ones. I think a lot will depend on how the kids set up their furniture as to what size they really need, but I thought it was a good price so I figured I’d go with the 5x7.

@Midwestma - I’m not sure so you should probably call Tyler to double-check. @zebradome - we’re also going with a 5x7 rug. We’re fortunate that my sister is in the rug business so she’s able to get him one at cost. Knowing my son I told her that he needed something that can take a beating and cleans easily.

Takes a beating and cleans easily. yep, sounds about right for an 18 year old guy :)

@Midwestma - I asked DS about the laptop question. He didn’t know whether all Tyler students should wait to buy a laptop and agreed that your best bet is to check with the school. He said almost all other the students in his orientation group were fellow graphic design majors so most discussions were centered around that.

Thanks mom4cw,I will call Tyler then .

does anyone know how much space (height) there is underneath the beds @ 1300?

I was wondering the same about Hardwick. I am contemplating starting a parents’ group on facebook to try to get these kinds of questions before a (hopefully) larger audience. My D attends Syracuse and they have a very active parents’ group over there; I did a search and it seems that a lot of other universities have them, as well. Would there be any interest in such a group for Temple parents? Please weigh in and if there is sufficient interest, I’ll start one. Thanks! :)

i would love a FB group!!! please send a link if you set one up, thanks!!!

A Facebook group would be great!

@kc1214 - I don’t know the exact measurement for Hardwick’s underbed space, but I do remember the 3-drawer storage containers underneath the bed in every girls’ room we toured. My D remembers this, too. Hardwick has adjustable beds that ‘loft’. I can ask my D if she can text/fb someone to see if they know. Another thing about Hardwick - there are not towel bars provided in the rooms automatically. I guess some rooms may have them from former students. Seems small but it’s a daily need!

I would be up for a Temple Parents FB group. If you set one up, pass along details and I’ll join too.

I’m in for a FB group!

Thank you, @WindowMomto2 , I didn’t know that about the towel bars!

As for the fb group, I tried to set one up and was prompted to “choose friends to add to the the group”. I didn’t have to friend the administrator of the Syracus group so I’m guessing that once a group is established, it is not necessary for each new member to become a facebook friend. So… If anyone is willing to friend me so that I can start the group, please pm your name. As a reward for doing so, I would be happy to make you co-administrator(s)! ;)

I’m up for FB group too. It don’t know that you necessarily have to friend an administrator but I’m assuming it would be private so you’d have to ask to join.

Good point about the towel bars. I’ll add it to the list…

Fb won’t let me start a group without at least one friend to add to it. Fortunately, @GertrudeMcFuzz has sent me her name (thank you!) As soon as the friending process is complete, I’ll post the group information here and hopefully, we’ll be good to go.

Ok, so we have a parents group, cleverly called Temple University Parents. Come and find us on facebook and request to join. Hopefully, others will find us and we can get a good exchange of information going.

hmm. not finding it, could you post a link? i will keep looking to, i could have a typo in my search

Sure! <a href=“Temple University Parents | Facebook”>https://www.facebook.com/groups/697485216998386/

I can’t find it either. A link would be great!

Link is not working…
