My parents both attended colleges outside the US, in Peru. My mom finished, but my dad did not. The Common App is asking me for a CEEB code for their schools, even though they are tiny podunk schools that no one has ever heard of. What do I put down for this? And along that line, does that make me a first-gen student?

If your mother graduated you’re not 1st generation. And for the CEEB code there should be something you can click “look up ceeb” or sth lke that, you put in the name, click search, it finds that the school doesn’t have a ceeb code and indicates this

You put 000000 (six zeroes) when an institution has no CEEB code.

No. First generation students are those whose parents never went to college. Your parents did go to college; where they went to college is irrelevant.

Thank you!
