Big envelope from Bowdoin! D spent the weekend saying (but not meaning) that she hoped they would reject her so she wouldn’t have to decide. She has loved the school on several visits, almost applied ED, but is also feeling the love from U Chicago and Williams. If she gets into Brown, we will have a real mess on our hands - and limited ability for accepted student visits because she can’t miss many crew practices and still make her boat. And yes, I deserve to have rotten eggs thrown at me for thinking this is a problem.

Congrats Highhead on your D’s acceptances. Quite a list of schools she has to choose from.

Boo to GT, Lyn.

LOL at the quote about 17yr old boys.

1 more ding so we’re 2 and 5. 6 to go. Praying she gets at least 1 more acceptance. Also praying for best friend’s D – waiting to hear from her last 2 (she wants to get in at both really bad). She and D overlap 1 school, but it’s not needs blind, and they don’t need fin aid, so I told her all things being equal, her D has the edge. This stuff is crazy.

Brklynmom and HighHead, we’re waiting for Bowdoin, too! Mail hasn’t come yet today…I’m going nuts. Congrats to your daughter, HH!

Just checked the mail: thin envelope from Bowdoin. Not holding out much hope for the rest of the week, but that’s OK. She’s doing well with what she has, and this will actually make things a whole lot simpler.

Crossing fingers for the rest of you!

So sorry, oregonianmom! I’m glad she’s happy with her remaining choices. I know the feeling–I was kinda glad with some of the waitlists, as it does make the winnowing process so much easier.

The quote about 17 year old boys and their innermost thoughts is priceless! Been there.

Two big envelopes just came from Bowdoin. Money news from Macalester and Bowdoin puts them both in the running. Little envelopes from Pomona (just as well), Rice and Georgetown. No broken hearts there.
You are all awesome. I hope that you have other good news in store oregonianmom and good luck momdoc!

Lynjoy, sorry about GT…

HighHead, congrats on Bowdoin! Best of luck w/your decisions later. We also have a “visiting problem”, due to S attending a music pre-conservatory program.

Oregonianmom, sorry about the thin envelope from Bowdoin. I hear you about making things simplier in the end.

Brklynmom, congrats on Bowdoin and the $$$ from them and Malacaster!

Congratulations, Brklynmom! I think 4 decisions x two children in one mail stop would be more than I could handle. Not to mention Mac $.
Good luck to all the Bowdoin, Pomona, Rice, Georgetown, and other schools coming down today!

brooklynmom-can’t imagine going through this emotional roller coaster with two kids…one is hard enough…but both into Bowdoin? That’s fantastic. Congrats to them and for you for taking them through this incredible journey!

Way to go Emilybee boychild!!! So happy for him.

Welcome aboard,Brklyn. Congratulations on the Bowdoin acceptances and good news on merit money.

Highhead: Congrats on the Bowdoin acceptance.

Sorry to those who got small envelopes today. Good luck to everyone still waiting.

The most absolutely astounding mail delivery today.

I got the mail and there was a large envelope from Claremont McKenna. Admissions decisions had already been announced on-line, so this was merely the aid award. Called my son, and he said I could open it, since FA is no great thrill.

Turns out he has been awarded a Seaver scholarship–full four year tuition and $8000 summer money. Absolutely unbelievable. I called him back–he was at a coffee shop doing physics homework with a friend. As I read him the letter, his voice got weak and I feared he would faint.

Boy, does that change the leaderboard.

Wow! Way to go UT’s S!!!

UT84321 - WOWSA! Congratulations…

brklynmom - I just can’t imagine the stress of twins during this process - Congrats on your 2 big envelopes!

Congrats to everyone on all the positive news, sorry to those that are receiving not so great news…

We are having a successful admission season, and I have to say, I owe a lot of it to things that I have learned on this site. As I mentioned before, my older boy got waitlisted at his top choice in 2008, and I felt I had not done my job in developing strategy and understanding the ropes. CC has been my tutorial in the nuances of the admission process, and I am profoundly grateful.

My son had to get the grades, take the tests, and write the essays; my job is understand the intricacies and I would never have been able to without helpful posters here.

@UT - WOW! Congrats to your S. How wonderful!
@brklnmom - Welcome. Double welcome. “My name is seattle_mom, and I’m addicted to College Confidential…”
@oregonianmom – sorry about Bowdoin. This is probably totally irrelevant to you, but D & I personally liked Willamette much better than Bowdoin when we visited.

UT, what fabulous news. Woo-hoo! Congratulations to your S.

Sigh. Waitlist #4 (Bowdoin). Problem with remaining on waitlists is that we don’t have the time/money to go visit with little chance of getting in; yet if he is offered a spot off the waitlist, how can he decide if he wants to go there if he hasn’t seen it yet?
