and Pepper, you are a strong and wise mom.

^^^Yes, I wish there was a “like” button for Pepper’s posts this evening - you are wise, and right.

Within 24 hours, D2 had rejections from Stanford and Princeton, which was bad enough, but then she didn’t get into a faith-based house at local State U which really hurt (the most). Thankfully Duke just said yes!

Brown- yes!
Yale - yes!
On top of Stanford yesterday…
Feeling kind of like we bought out the store. Did NOT expect this.

3 consecutive rejections for my son today. My advice to internationals, per our experience---- do not ask for aid. Find other sources of funding without asking for aid. Asking for aid for internationals is very detrimental to the application.

Congratulations to the winners tonight!! How exciting! I hope this opens doors to new opportunities they had tried hard not to count on.

For those with not so good news, it doesn’t matter what the odds are it always stinks to be told no thanks. Even if you are set on another school, you want to be the one to say ‘no’. I’m hoping that the wonderful options on the table will shine extra bright as they make their decisions and start to feel a part of the university community they choose.

I have to say I’m so very glad to be on the sidelines today.

So D did not have her likely letter rescinded from Cornell (which, for those of you not following every word on this thread, was my worry last night that it would be arbitrarily cancelled).

…and she received 2 more ivy acceptances — Brown and Penn.

… and, really the best news of all, I did get to sneak a peek at the FA for one of the above, and it was very generous — making our cost about half of a UC here in California. So relieved and so grateful.

I don’t feel very strong or wise right now. I have shed my share of tears already with more to follow I am sure.

I am so very happy though for everyone getting the news they have been hoping for here-keep it coming.

I can’t really do too much right now with him not home.

camathmom–way to go–validation at a bargain price. You can’t beat it.

Congratulations to the kids who were accepted and hugs for those kids who didn’t receive good news today.

Highhead - how is your kid going to choose?!?!

camathmon - phew I was feeling very guilty but you did ask!

Yes to Dartmouth!!!
No to Yale and Princeton. Still waiting for Harvard, Brown and Williams. The rollercoaster continues!!
Congrats to those with acceptances and Big Boo for those with No’s! All of your kids are great and the parents too:)

Good news here:

My S was accepted to Tufts early this afternoon. Then his dad got home early from work to be here for support as he opened his 4 ivy decisions. His first choice throughout this process was Brown, where he was deferred ED. He wanted to start w/ that decision but after waiting 1/2 hour for the server to pull through, he want on to check Cornell: rejected; then Dartmouth: rejected (at this point my H and I weren’t optimistic at all); then Penn: oh my gosh, an acceptance; and finally, his first choice, Brown: Acceptance!

He’s done.

He was completely elated until he heard from his girlfriend of over 2 years - she was rejected from Brown and i thought until just minutes ago, also rejected from columbia, but apparently, she’s lost her pin and has not gotten a response to an email. if columbia doesn’t come through, she’ll head to Uchicago. W/out a doubt, he’s upset about the 1000s of miles that will separate them. And you know what, so am I. My S isn’t the most outgoing guy and they’ve been really good for each other – incredibly supportive of one another since sophomore year when they began dating. so, there was jubilation at our house at first, but it’s been tempered by bad news for people we deeply care about.

My congratulations to all hearing good news tonight and my heartfelt sympathies to those who aren’t. Without a doubt, I believe that all these kids will thrive wherever they land.

Harvard: no
So S will have to decide between MIT and Princeton.
MIT’s FA is quite good, but Princeton is really really good.

I didn’t get a chance to read much of the other posts, sorry…
Will come back later.

My D get in her first choice: UPenn. Yahoo!!! I cannot hug my daughter because I am far far away from home.
Congratulations to all lucky parents here!

And on with the Yays!

phbmom-Duke

coolweather-Penn!

Agree w/Blueig–glad we are on the sidelines as we send lots of hugs

No from Yale, wait-list from Brown. My S was fine with both - he knew the odds. His first thought was to join the Brown wait-list, but then he started looking at the orientation trip options for Pomona and thinking about whether he’d rather go backpacking or surfing, and he’s not sure he’ll do the wait-list after all :-). Pomona was the first school that he got interested in, back in his sophomore year. I’m very happy that he has such a wonderful option and I think it’s a great fit for him.

It seems odd to still be waiting on one school (Amherst), since the energy at our house has shifted to making decisions.

Wow! How exciting! I’m glad to hear some of you are hearing good news about financial aid as well. We’ll be worrying about that more than anything else next year for D12. Dh is going to be a nervous wreck. It’s hard enough for him to wait for S11 to decide between our state flagships and loans or not.

My DS got no from his two lotteries and will be Chicago 2015. He’s very happy, and I know that’s where he belongs.

Congrats to all those with news!!! Its been a wild two weeks, hasn’t it.
Whoo hoo
Our student heads to Yale in the fall.

Congrats to all with acceptances to their dream schools, wherever they may be!
