Thanks for the update.
UGH:
DS2022: he was accepted to UMass in the 3rd wave before Christmas.
This changes things a bit w/ our ED2 plan.
Question is: WHICH college to ED2?

Application question: my son submitted an EA application yesterday for a school whose deadline is Nov. 1. He looked in the portal today and itās giving him the option to upload an optional resume. What do you think is the latest he can do this? Heās running for an NHS position but the results wonāt be announced until Friday afternoon and heād like to put that on the resume, since itās not mentioned anywhere in his application. (So, the resume would be submitted a few days after the Nov. 1 application deadline.) Thanks.
For many colleges (not U Maryland who is a stickler for ALL pieces submitted before EA deadline), they just want your commonapp/application submitted (paid) by deadline.
The rest of the pieces can come in when theyāre ready (ie. transcripts/LoR, etc).
My understanding is there is no reason to submit a resume unless there is no common App activities section or if it is an arts specific one.
Thank you!
That is wonderful to hear, thank you for letting me know. Of course, I guess itās too much to ask for them to post or email that information to applicants.
Sounds like the counselor checking boxes to me to make sure things are doneā¦
Our counselors all signed the day we signed our agreements for D & S 24.
Last Minute Club Update at our house (Well one twin is in the club, the other twin is not)
D24 fell asleep last night working on apps. Is choosing to stay home tonight to work on apps.
Is also negotiating to stay home from school tomorrow to work on appsā¦
No comment from the parent who suggested this be done over the summerā¦also no comment on the fact that I feel that she is spending too much time on the wrong thingsā¦Iāve said it once but have learned to not repeat itā¦
I donāt think it needs to be signed very early, but my daughterās counselor signed it and had her sign it that day (which was just last week when she decided to ED) and told her that parents should sign it within 24 hours. I think itās more of an efficiency issue to get it done sooner rather than later.
Haha so the new hack is to keep driving west until your essays are finished.
Unless you live really far north, I might recommend flying . . . .
or you could just stay home and use a proxy IP address to submit
Please donāt suggest that to the kids. Ha.
I was thinking use VPN Proxy may be even easier.
Thank you! It looks as though they just emailed applicants as well. Iām happy to see that they have extended the deadline. Now D24 can enjoy Halloween without trying continuously to log in and submit her SRAR.
I saw the following issue with D24 apps - Single SRAR portal that is used by colleges in NE - UCONN,UPITT,NE etc. input courses again in the common app - UMCP,Purdue; then UIUC portal for SRAR. - all of them could pay or work with common app for a single place to add this. The good part for SRAR with UConn/UPitt is that you can update the record and resend them to the school(we did spot some errors after we sent them to the school).
I called College Board and itās a good thing I did. It turns out the school created a duplicate account when they registered D24 for 10/11 SAT. College Board said it would take 3-5 business days to resolve issue. They said they would mark it as high priority given 11/1 application deadlines. Lo and behold an hour later, D24 got an email that theyāve merged the accounts and she is good to go for tomorrow. For once, college board has been helpful and speedy
Donāt be surprised if he ends up receiving emails later this spring from the schools informing him that he has been automatically accepted into their respective honors programs even though he didnāt apply. This happened to mine.
My daughter has submitted 13 apps. None of them are reaches and we expect she will be accepted by all of them. She is chasing merit. A wonderful calm has come over her the past couple of weeks. She loved her visit to Ole Miss two weeks ago and they have offered full tuition. She said āI am not stressing on this anymore, as I already have one great optionā. I am ready for this process to be over, but she is going to wait to hear back from all 13 schools before she makes her final decision. If she is happy though about where her school search is at, so am I.
