- How does financial aid work for estranged kids? My parents are in the 100-150k bracket, but it looks like I won't be getting any of it, so would I be able to use my (hopefully existent) income in order to qualify for more FA?
- If I have to use my parent's income on the FAFSA, there is no way I'm going to get any need based money. So how possible is it to pay for community college and an apartment/bills on a minimum wage job? Or should I just forget the whole college thing if this happens?
- Would it be easier to try to complete high school whilst working full time or should I just drop out and take a very small amount of college credits? And yes I did do my research, it is legal for them to kick me out by 16.....
From your other posts, you have a lot going on. http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/19664454/#Comment_19664454
You are a sophomore in high school? Hopefully you have time to resolve things with your parents and any other issues before college.
@CTTC exactly why my parents don’t want to deal with me anymore…
Otherwise I don’t see why you had to dig that up.
I think you ought to consider going to the “bad public school” that you mention in a previous post. Just for your own sanity. It’s better than ending up hospitalized due to the pressure of this stressful school. You may find you learn more there because you will feel freer to study things that interest you with your extra time. Working on your mental health is the most important thing right now.
@choirsandstages it’s not even that it has bad academics, which I really don’t care about since I could study things on my own time like you said. There’s a lot of gang activity there, kids get beat up daily and there are shootings and stabbings almost every year. I think the fear of that would end up hurting me more than helping me, and my parents agree and say it’s off the table. Hopefully I’ll get into another public school that has less violence, although the chances of that are slim.
