The school at Cornell I’m applying to is CALS a state affiliated school 14, 000 a year. What reason do i have for transferring for the essay other then I can’t afford the school no longer

You also have academic motivations: you want to move up the ladder, in your own words. Do your target schools have academic programs that are in some way superior to the ones at your current school?

Well it is Cornell :)

Well, yes, but you can’t write THAT in your essay :)

Is it too late any way to apply? I mean I have to do all these essays and I need people to look over them. Plus I have to contact my high school and go through this ordeal again. Plus my friend told me that its easier to transfer after two years that way they have a more detailed picture of you

Transfer application deadlines are still more than a month away, which is plenty of time to write essays and order transcripts. The application process won’t magically get easier next year.

Are you concerned because you haven’t done the sorts of things you think that a strong transfer applicant should do (get involved on campus, interact with their professors, etc)?

Just do the applications. Find reasons why you like each school, and write about that in your essay. Trust me, it’s not too late to pull it all together

Oh how I wish CALS were $14k a year. The cost is $25k, $40 with room and board. I wonder where you it your figure from?

I would be looking at more SUNYs, unless your top choice is Stony Brook. In the back of my head I thought Buffalo was good for premed? Geneseo if you prefer an LAC. But maybe you’ve already nixed these.

I’m an instate student by the way. The school (CALS) is state affiliated and there for cheaper

I know. I am in New York also. The price is as I stated.

Yes. the biggest thing activity wise I did on campus was become a member of the spirit committee for colleges against cancer. I didn’t really interact with my professors either.

Why is it so expensive and still be a state school?

It is not really a state school. You can look the details of it up elsewhere. As NYers we get a nice $15,000 discount, but that isn’t necessarily enough.

Have you asked your parents exactly what you can afford? You might have, but if not, there’s no use looking at private schools yet.

But father could actually afford a lot he just doesn’t want to pay. But thats a very long story.

I understand that, and can personally relate, but you still need to know exactly what he WILL contribute.

Hes not even clear on that he always changes the number

Look at Bing or Buffalo, both are good pre-med. Just curious, what school are you at now?

University of Scranton
