Does anyone know what the acceptance rate is specifically for the Park School of Communications since it’s more competitive than some of the other schools.
I wondered the same thing when our son applied. I couldn’t find any data, but I can’t say I looked really hard (he got in, despite a meh GPA.
@mstomper Thanks for your response. My son is kind of in the same boat - what was your son’s GPA, and how many AP’s and such did he have?
His GPA was around 3.1, with two AP classes taken and a couple that he’s taking this year. Most of his other classes have been honors classes. He’s seldom been a motivated student, but has liked film and writing classes that he’s had. He probably got in because A) he scored 1320 on the SAT and B) I’m sure his essay was very good. That said, Ithaca probably isn’t going to be affordable unless his financial aid appeal is successful. We’re not sure it’s the best match for him, since he’s had long stretches where he’s had low motivation. It may be a little too intense for him.
Thanks for the info!
My sons GPA was 3.4. But his SAT was 1330. Maybe a trend? SAT matters? Who knows.
My daughter has a 3.8u/4.6w gpa and a 1210 on the SAT. AO had told us Ithaca is putting less and less weight in to the SATs and going more on the whole picture so no sure how the SAT plays in on its own. She also has taken 5 APs and all honors classes. Lots of EC and an internship in communications.
My son will probably need to go test optional because of a LD so I hope that’s true.
