Parking

So I may be attending UCSB and was wondering how parking there works (the site is terribly confusing). I know it isnt gaurenteed, but How much does it cost? I'm not really bothered by parking far away. Additionally, how do the permits work? I saw a undergraduate night/weekend permit but then what happens during the day? Any insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

I’m interested in this too. I know at Davis freshman are not allowed to have parking permits. Is this the same at UCSB?

UCSB freshmen are allowed to have parking tickets.

Permits can get pricey though. . .From what I’ve heard, prices range from 300$ (parking structure[?]) to 600$ (in front of a dorm).

An alternative to pricey permits is to find a parking spot in IV. However, IV, as you know, is infamous for sparse parking space. . .

Great, thank you

So how would you go about getting a permit? Do you apply during the summer before school starts?

you can find parking permit info here ===> [UCSB Transportation & Parking Services](http://www.tps.ucsb.edu/)

Are you guaranteed parking next to your exact dorm.
