How much does parking cost for the year (or if you just know by semester)? I am a junior and considering bringing a car down this year because I may be doing an internship. But I was wondering what are the costs. Also, does anyone know the pricing for parking at Loews or other nearby hotels?

[Vanderbilt Traffic and Parking Website -](<a href=“Transportation and Parking | Vanderbilt University”>Transportation and Parking | Vanderbilt University)

It looks as if it costs $252/year for student non-reserved parking in various lots, and $880/year for student reserved parking in the Terrace, Wesley, or Kensington garages. When our d had an off-campus job, she thought the expense of the reserved parking was worthwhile - but she never really had trouble with non-reserved parking, either.

where are the locations of the non-reserved parking. that’s a pretty big difference in price

The non-reserved parking lots are in good locations for the most part - near Towers, Highland Quad, Branscomb. The thing is it’s very difficult to park in these places especially at nights and on the weekends because there simply aren’t enough spots for the number of permits. That means you have to end up parking in a couple somewhat inconvenient lots or all the way over by the football stadium. If you park illegally you will be ticketed and possibly towed. It happened to me so don’t do it.

On nights and weekends, you can very likely park for free in some of the medical center parking decks if you can’t find parking in the lots. I do not recommend trying to park there 24/7 as you will probably get ticketed at some point. As long as you leave those parking decks before 6:30 on a weekday, you won’t have to pay. So, if you drive in on a Friday, you can come and go all weekend and as long as you exit before 6:15-6:30 on Monday morning, you should be able to park for free. Just make sure that you do not park in any employee parking areas in those decks. You need to park in the visitor sections. Since the clinics are closed on the weekends, there is a lot of available space.
My nephew who is in high school is working at the rec center this summer and as long as he leaves after the parking attendants, he has had free parking this summer!
Good luck.

I second this question: “Also, does anyone know the pricing for parking at Loews or other nearby hotels?” since freshmen parking on-campus is not permitted.

About off-campus parking… there is an Embassy Suites a few blocks from the Commons, ~$800 for August-May parking. Apparently you have to park on the 5th floor of the parking deck (lol?), which is… admittedly not that big of a deal… send me a PM if you would like the phone number of the guy to call about getting this parking deal. Supposedly this is the cheapest you’ll find a parking spot to rent for the school year… dunno about that for sure though.

is embassy the one across from arbys? i stayed there and its not THAT close to campus. also, they have the craziest/most difficult parking garage ive seen in my entire life…i think they valet for you though

If you really want to save money you can find some free city parking in certain areas near campus. Not necessarily the first choice, but if you’re hard up for money it can be done. I had a car freshman year and parked a few blocks from Kissam close to Elliston all year for nothing.
