Does anybody know if there are any parking options near campus that are cheaper than the official school sponsored one?

I'd like to bring my car to school next semester, but $450 seems pretty steep.

You probably won’t find anything cheaper than that. Some of the nearby hotels rent out space in their garages. Call around and you might find something.

You can always try finding free city parking. I did it my freshman year with no issues.

Did you park in the same free city parking area, or were there a few spots you frequented? I have heard about free parking on 17th avenue near the commons.

Thanks for the responses, this is helpful.

There’s aren’t open parking lots around for free parking. The “free city parking” dtotheustin is referring to is just on neighborhood streets.

My advice is leave the car at home like almost every other student.

There is NO cheap city parking. There is some free parking on 17, in the neighborhoods behind the commons, and a few other spots. The only problem is Nashville folk know about these spots. Just sayin…might not be so easy. My daughter had a campus spot…and it’s a 20 minute walk, BUT it was safe, secure and garaunteed …

Yes, you’re probably right. If I want a spot, i’ll just have to pay the full price. I guess fingers crossed for next year to get the kissam lottery, that parking garage would be nice.

A housemate last year would park in a lot off West End for free, but I’m not sure where (I’d only learned of it after purchasing a permit – which I couldda sworn cost ~$200ish, not $450, but maybe I’m misremembering). I knew plenty of people who worked free street parking just fine, though I never bothered with it aside from on Scarritt, I think.
