Parkland Kids' Advocacy and college admissions

I want every single one of the Parkland kids to get into the college of their choice, with a gap year if that is what they want.

Heck, I want Yale and Brown and Harvard and Oberlin and Georgetown and Julliard to offer the leaders full tuition scholarships (yes, I know that is not always a thing.) (Maybe there is a foundation that could step in?)

It is March 10th. Will (all of? some of?) these kids receive additional consideration from the schools they applied to?

The Sandy Hook shooting happened in 12/2012 so the oldest kids from that incident are about to graduate. What about them? Is the NRA financing therapy and/or college scholarships?

Of course not regarding the NRA. I’m sure colleges are giving some extra consideration to the Parkland seniors.

Yea, my NRA thing was gratuitous (sorry/not sorry). They do finance scholarships for shooters (I googled) https://awards.nra.org/

Why are your “sure colleges are giving some extra consideration to the Parkland seniors”? Is there evidence that that has happened before in similar circumstances?

No, but these kids are all over the news. There can’t be a college in the country whose admissions officers don’t know this school’s name.

Idk. Some of them are rude, obnoxious and ignorant. Not usually characteristics of future success.

Huh. We have some posters like that, too. Go figure

I’ve actually been amazed at how well informed they generally are about gun control issues. It was interesting to read that some of them were assigned to debate the issue last semester so had just done a ton of reaearch pro and con. As far as rude goes, I cut a lot of slack to kids whose friends were just killed talking to politicians.

Rude to “Little Marco?” Who drinks a lot of water and sweats a ton? Or that “Sleepy-eyed son of a ■■■■■” Chuck Todd? Those comments are very polite.

These kids are much more well-spoken and informed than many of our leaders.
