This is why I want to go to an SA and not a civilian college:

You made a good response to the guy, though, glitter...nice job.

GlitterHairDye - unfortunately this type of attitude seems to permeate many of today's youth and, as one post mentioned, why this country is going to hell in a hand basket.

We ALL have it so easy compared to 97.6% of the world. I mean when a kid's biggest beef is that their cell phone isn't a "fancy" as their friends.... wow, life IS tough!

I can't tell you how refreshing it has been reading the posts exculsively through the naval academy thread. Sorry, maybe I'm biased but, it seems the most logical, level-headed discussions are found here.

Maybe there's hope yet! :)

Ha, I stumbled across this foolish post by xsuubiex this morning and almost flamed back big time. The only thing that stopped me was the example set by Jamzmom, Peskemom, and many others about not going mental, even on those who deserve it!

Glitter and my girl Boston did a much better job of setting it straight than I would've.

I'm not gonna do it. I'm not going to tell that moonbat what I think of him/her/it.

Not gonna do it......

Ultimate pet peaves:
1) I can't afford the tuition at X University so I'm going to apply for ROTC scholarship.
2) I'm applying to US_A because a diploma from a service academy will take me far in life.
Unfortunately, we have a lot of people like this, just on CC board alone.

ok...I couldn't help myself...I tried to stay away from it, but couldn't

Nicely put DMeix. Hopefully he doesn't even start about choosing Air Force over Army or such because one's "safer" over the other.

spidermom....thank you for your endorsement of my approach to outrageous posts. Sometimes I think they are deliberate traps posted just to see if they can start a bar brawl. Even if xsuubiex is serious - he isn't worth the computer time to respond. Maybe if he or she sticks around long enough actually reading the comments by the most talented, bright, sweet, creative, loving, patriotic, dedicated, supportive kids and parents on these threads, he'll have a change of heart.

Or maybe we'll get lucky and he'll learn his lesson the hard way.

now, now Zaph....If he's really up to partying and fornicating like he says he is, there's plenty of ways for him to REALLY pay big time for being so stupid. This mother's heart hopes he #1...wasn't serious and #2 doesn't have anything really awful happen to him just because his brain cells are still not fully developed into adulthood...#3 and because I know how dumb I was as a college kid and certainly know I didn't get what my actions deserved and LOOK AT ME NOW! A regular middle class conservative grandma who calls everyone 'honey' and promises 'cookies' to all takers!

So lets hope for the best for xsuubiex

I've got forty pretty secluded arces out back... we could always take 'em hunt'in! :D

(works on Sierra's boy friends!) :)

heh, hey, hey wvdad...you're thinking WICKED thoughts now, ain't you, you redneck ye....Can this Yankee come along? er...on second thought....I'd be the one scared and screaming once the guns went off...I've always hated the sound and vibrations, so I'm no help. Oh well :-(

I ken't hep ma self!

You'll have to ask Sis about her first "boy friend" experience.

Picture ole dad at the kitchen table, bib overalls, cleaning my weapons, just a smilin'. Yes, I do have an ornery streak. :D

hey not to stir the pot here but I strongly disagree that this country is going to hell in a handbasket. Yes...ignorance is widespread and commonplace but there are many people who I see (not including those who attend SAs) who will someday make great contributions to the world/the U.S. or do something great. I like to think that tomorrow can and will be much better....a little corny or naive maybe? probably...but we are not headed down the drain.

Great attitude JL2010!

If only more young people felt that way.

There are many "good" kids out there but, unfortunately, it appears there are more that just expect the world to provide for them and truly do not have a clue or care to get one.

At times I am amazed at the level of ignorance, not stupidity, shear ignorance MANY young people possess.

I feel blessed that most of Sierra and Wesley's friends are pretty savvy but then I have been "pounding" on them for quite a while. ;)

Yes Yes....I guess ignorant kids either stay ignorant or they grow up....for our sake lets hope they grow up.

thanks Spidermom! (too bad about these rain cancellations huh? i was supposed to go to saturday's game! oh well. at least we took the yankees series. we'll take texas in the make-up games.)

We should post this thread as a reply on the "ROTC, is it worth it?" thread.

Peskemom, you are my role model! :)

Boston_USMC, we'd better take down those Rangers or I'll never hear the end of it from my students. It's tough being a Red Sox fan here in the "chicken-fried nation" known as Texas.
