Parsons AAS Graphic Design program

I'm not even sure if this is the right place to be posting, but I am very much interested in the AAS Graphic Design program at Parson's School of Design in NYC. Does anyone know anything about the program, or know of similar programs at other schools?

I am a Journalism major graduating from Marquette University in spring 2012 and I'm lookin to go into magazine designe and publication.

Thanks for the help!

What exactly are you wanting to know about the program? You might talk to people who are already in design/publication and see what credentials/experience they recommend.

Definitely don’t waste your time and money on the Parsons Graphic Design AAS. I did that program and it’s 100% not worth the money. The professors are mostly adjuncts who don’t really know how to teach. Parsons doesn’t offer enough sections of each course to accommodate all students, forcing you to take an additional semester to complete all your credits. And worst of all…this program is really just a money-maker for the school. They get in a bunch of students who are looking to switch careers and give them a half-baked education. The BFA programs at Parsons are great. But the AAS, especially after you already have a BA, is not a good investment. The programs feels like they are just pushing you through as cattle and collecting your tuition. Seriously don’t do this program. You’d honestly be much better off learning the technical skills from lynda.com and taking a few theory courses at a local community college. Or if you really want to go to NYC, then maybe doing a certificate program at Parsons or NYU, but seriously don’t waste your time and money on all crap classes they make you take to earn the AAS degree. Employers really only care about your portfolio and your skills, not a degree since you already will have a BA anyhow.
