Which has a better, more developed photography program? What are the pros and the cons for each? I'm very split on which one to go to for Fall 2009. Thanks everyone!

Well. I would STRONGLY discourage ANYONE from going to Parsons for photography. From my research and after visiting both schools, I feel like one should only go to Parsons for Fashion Design. Their photo program is not well developed, and it is lacking in experienced professors, facilities, etc. A huge huge amount of Parsons' money goes strictly to fashion design, and the majority of its other programs are left in the dust.

On the other hand, SVA is known for being one of the top top photo schools in the country. While I was touring it, my guide even went as far as to say that is has been ranked as one of the top 5 schools. While Parsons is known for its fashion, SVA is known for its illustration and photography. It has 3 floors of uber nice photo facilities, as well.

Thanks for the response! Yeah, just looking at their courses, their program looked a bit underdeveloped compared to SVA's and some of the professors are actually from SVA. I guess I'll just have to visit both schools and compare.
