I'm one of those awkward people that don't say anything in debates. Most of the time I just don't have anything to say. But when I do, I'm too nervous to say it because once I stand up and speak, my mind draws a blank. Last time I said something, I completely forgot what I was going to say halfway, and I looked like a total idiot.

Anyone else have this problem? >_<

Have some faith in yourself!

write it down before you stand up, just in case :D

this used to happen to me too, but I’ve gotten a lot better at it. organizing (writing may help) thoughts on the subject beforehand and practice (at least going to debates to get more of a jist of how it goes) helped me.

@ UK and stressed: I usually write down everything, but what tends to happen is that I directly read off the paper ;P

I usually have the problem where i’m indifferent about the question being debated, so I have to come up with a false stance on a subject just to participate. But a lot of the time in that situation I do sit there kind of awkwardly.
