Hey guys,
Just wanted to know what you guys have heard about the whole social, party scene at Gtown. I was lovin' the BC one and I'm hoping Gtown is very similar.
What is a typical Thursday, Friday, Saturday night like for a Gtown student?

you are actually transferring from Boston College?

Can you tell me why? Cause I was admmitted to both and I am quite in doubt...

I'm sure you know that Georgetown is a "dry campus", which means that the party life will be much more hushed and muted than it was at BC. Also keep in mind that there are no fraternaties at Georgetown. These facts accounted for, Georgetown's Fri-Sat-Sun party period is apparenty pretty strong. From those that I've talked to, I get the impression that the partying is toned down from Monday-Thursday, almost nonexistent really as students concentrate on their studies. On the weekend, however, things loosen up a lot and kids aren't afraid to party hard.

Nope, I'm in incoming freshman. BC really screwed me with financial aid and Gtown didn't, so right now I leaning towards it. I got into both business schools and from what I've seen and heard (once again I'm much more familiar with BC since I'm from CT) the two schools are very very similar. For me it comes down to, where I would rather live, Boston or DC. Keep in mind I'm comparing BC Honors Program and Gtown, otherwise Gtown becomes a much stronger candidate in terms of actual school. It's all about fit, I'm figuring BC would be slightly less stressful than Gtown in terms of academics.

Georgetown is a "dry" campus in the sense that alcohol is not allowed in residences occupied by people under 21. Generally this is the case @ most schools. And we all know how that works.....:)

i just got back from the gaap weekend and basically the students said that gtown follows the whole "work hard play hard" motto...they said that the general rule is that upperclassmen throw the parties (usually in their off-campus houses) and underclassmen attend them, and then when the underclassmen become upperclassmen they throw the parties and let the new underclassmen come, so its like a whole big cycle...and according to the people i talked to, gtown underclassmen dont have to pay to get into the parties, which of course is awesome...the students did say that parties are basically just on the weekends, but no matter what theres always something going on

I love the party scene. We definitely follow that whole work hard play hard thing. Thursday- Saturday are the party nights. Some people go to clubs on thursdays- discounts for students then. Georgetown may have "dry dorms" but that doesn't stop everyone from drinking. We pregame hard in our dorms. It's really easy to party hop here and go to like 3 different parties in one night. Townhouses, Henle, Village A, Village B all have parties. BC is more of a party school that Georgetown only because they don't work as hard as we do so they party more often. You definitely won't be let down by the party scene, and in case anyone was worried about it, you don't have to drink if you don't want to either.
Sorry if that was incoherent. I'm a few glasses of wine deep...

Try reading Nietzsche with a bit of alcohol in the system.
