BU parties= egh, their "ok"

Every weekend you're bound to find a party somewhere if you really look

There are a few BU frats that hold parties most weekends down near West Campus, but most of the big frat parties are MIT frats.

Get caught by BU police and your done for.

Drinking is mostly at off campus parties. Lots of people live in apartments in Allston and other areas. On campus policies are strict.

Little Greek influence. MIT frats are mostly at BU in Kenmore area.

If you look for one, you'll find one.

Uh, are you really going to spent ~$47,000 a year to party?
Go to a state school for that.

Sorry, I didn't know that it was a crime to want a good educational AND social experience.

hahaha i feel ya surfette, im applying to BU too and yah- i want a good education i'm gunna work my ass off and get it- but at night- i wanna go out, have a good time, and find some parties lol so i dont think you need to go to a state school for that!

You should go out. It's college.

exactly!! i wish more people on this website realized that and took their noses out of the air..

if by "going out" you mean getting plastered in allston and stumbling home with the pru as a compass but too blind to notice the rats running around my feet...
i'll keep my nose where it is, thanks.

parties are really what you make of them. If you have any sense, you can go out, not get ****faced, and still have a great time. It really all just depends on how you approach the idea of partying.

It gets old though. :

If you get caught, a few things can happen, even the first time. Academic probation, or you get your housing taken away. Seeing as it’s a city, getting your housing taken away is quite a big deal. Like, not being able to go there anymore, big deal.

Bottom line: Have fun!! Just be smart about it to keep from going overboard.

If I never got invited to go out and party I wouldn’t approve of them either.

“if you look for one, you can find one”

are there really that few parties that you would have to look hard to find one? how is the bar scene? parties at nearby colleges?

it’s not that there are that few parties, it’s that a) it isn’t a state school where drunk bitties and bros are spilling out onto the street from every house and b) as a freshman you’re unlikely to know where they all are. you’ll have a great time Fresh/Soph year though…there’s definitely enough to keep you entertained.

bar scene is great, but expensive. fake IDs are generally a fail in Boston…I wouldn’t even bother unless you’re jonesin for a felony charge. Wait til you turn 21…it’s actually worth the wait.

Like it’s been said earlier, BU Police takes fake IDs and underage drinking very seriously so just don’t get caught. They make it clear to Freshman that fake IDs fail. From what I hear, sometimes they don’t even take out of state IDs. But that’s just something someone told me.

they take out of state but you often need a back up, like your BU id or a debit card with your name on it

Honestly, if you’re into partying, you’ll probably be fine by the middle of first semester freshman year. It just takes some time to form a real social group and actually know where to go (or better yet, get invited). It just can be tough at first.

Don’t get a fake ID. It’s really not worth it for how often they fail in Boston… You don’t need one anyways. There’s enough to do minus bars. Once you’re 21, you can do that whole scene then.

MIT frat parties, ftw.
