Is there a lot of drinking?
Are there like drugs, like pot or something?
Are they just people chilling out?
Are they three-ring circuses?
Anythign, tell me, details on how ppl have fun at Yale

most of everything...drugs arent too easy to come by, at some parties youll find ppl smoking pot but most parties are just people drinking. of course if u dont drink there are plenty of cleanies here also...and yes all of us do interact peaceably...i myself enjoy the partay scene but one of my best friends is totally sober...and she comes to parties and has as much fun as any of us. the parties usually kick ass but sometimes they can just be hot, sweaty and noisy. often its best just to kick back with some friends and drink of choice and just chill. any more questions?

nah that was good. I just was askin about parties mostly. Oh, how about New Haven? I'm unsure what to think of it, because it seems like a city that caters towards college students, since there are a couple of colleges there, but then again its like an industrial city. Do you find good clubs there, and restaurants and what not? And do good musicians come through New Haven, or do they skip it between like Boston and NYC or something

If you are into the whole frat party thing, you'll find frat parties pretty much every weekend - drunken stupor, the whole spiel. There are also the alcoholic parties sponsored by random people across campus. We've so far had hobo parties, toga, 80's, prep themed party, pool party (I hear they filled each room with a kiddie pool), parties were princess suites team up with one room dancing and the other drinking, even DS symposiums (Directed Studies normally assign a paper a week, but sometimes you stumble upon a No Paper Week and people throw No Paper Thursday Parties).

If you aren't into mad drunken frolicking, there are other alternatives - we went Christmas Carolling one No Paper Thursday in the middle of September, random movie nights, Milk n Cookies Party (one of my friends' grandmother baked him 100+ cookies, so we bought milk and had a mad non-alcoholic fun).

There's something for everybody; the people here are great - where else could you go carolling in the middle of September?

its as exclusive as you want it to be. certainly there are cliquey people...but mostly if youre a chill person youll find other chill people...parties are generally inclusive and you can definitely meet new people if ur outgoing. generally its just fun to people watch with ur friends. one somewhat exclusive element is the secret societies...but no one really takes them all that seriously. its such a small number of people who get inducted that youre not likely to ever know anyone in one, and even if u do u dont have to deal with it until senior year.
as for new haven, it aint the most bustling college-friendly town in the universe but its not too bad. the area right around yale caters well to the school, with plenty of suburban-esque shoppes and friendly places you can go and get a bite to eat (even at three in the morning). theres a club right nearby where various artists come and tear it up every weekend. ive never been but thats cuz i dont like any music after 1980...but some hot artists come every now and again, im sad i missed the led zeppelin cover band...yea, its pretty chill.

I'd change the fact that I really have to make an effort to see my friends in TD and Silliman... and the fact that my college, for some reason, chooses to be very cliquey.

its alright. u can walk around the immediate vicinity late at night, but i wouldnt go too far out.
i wouldnt change a damn thing. well, maybe the snow. but yea.

favorite thing about yale...so many things, i cant really decide...my friends, my classes, the architecture, the courtyards, i dont really know...maybe just this feeling that im plugged into something so much bigger than myself, so big and so old, and with so much history and so much going on you can never get bored. its pretty awesome.

But I fully agree - I was walking around Old Campus tonight and just noticed how pretty the trees were against the spattering of dorm room lights peeking out of the gothic buildings. It was such a great experience. It was so great it made me, momentarily, forget about the cold (I'm from Houston - the weather's tough).

gagner - the pool party in vanderbuilt? I was pre-froshing there the night they were setting it up - they did put a kiddie pool on each of the staircase landing - it was really cool.

I don't know much as I am a potential student. However, on my official visit to you Yale I was taken to DKE's "mortician's ball" and it was fantastic! I had a blast. HOwever it was over at about 11 at which time most students went to the local dance club "Toads." If you are not over 21 it can be tough to get into though, so that is a down side.

If you are looking to find out the details of the party scene at specific colleges go to that new website that is out. Im pretty sure you can find out how specific colleges party on there.

Hey everyone, just wanted to ask:
The parties- how are they (out of ten) are they similar to clubs or frat parties.
What Fraternities do u have how many are there and how do you get in?
Sports- how is the soccer scene
thanks
