How’s the party scene at Brown? And how’s the social life…besides clubs and sports???

Anything other than a full campus get together type party on the weekend...

What do you want?
It's here.

Do a lot of students go home on the weekend?

Brown is a very residential college. There is no culture of abandoning ship on weekends. Sure, this weekend (three-day) probably sees a fair amount going home (I'm home bc of Yom Kippur running into the three day weekend... but I'm the only one of my friends who left Brown for the weekend) depending on the year, but rarely during any typical weekend are people going home.

Sometimes students go to New York or Boston on weekends. The option is there, although most of the time people just stay on campus.

Brown is a very cohesive campus and, as a result, there is always something to do here. The party scene is fantastic and you always run into people you know...Clubs/bars are big (local bars like Liquid, Spats, and Fishco often have many Brown students hanging around) but if you aren't into that, you can always find a party on campus...

I emailed a Brown student through the website, and they said that party scene was just how it is anywhere else in the world. If you want to be involved, it's definitely there but not "over the top." If you don't, it's relatively easy to avoid it.

Keep in mind that parties are defined by the people attending them so a Brown party is a Brown party which is not the same type of party you'd find at a Big 10 school for example.

unless of course you throw a party with the tagline "Party like a state school" which I did.

there's a good balance between partying and academics
