Party school?

Sorry if this has been asked a lot, but I just see a lot of conflicting views on the social scene at McGill. Some say it's "sloppy" and the quality of students has been decreasing because everyone wants to go clubbing and get wasted/high even on weekdays. Others say it's like any other school and if you decide not to party it doesn't affect your social life.

I'm not naive; I know there will be parties wherever I go. And I'm not necessarily against partying or drinking either, I just don't want to do it every day. So what is the atmosphere like? Can everyone find their niche or will more "studious" people (who only want to go out on weekends) find it hard to make friends? How much should this all factor into my decision?

My older sister thought the same thing. But after the first week, she was in love. I mean, she lived in Douglas Hall, which may have contributed to her falling in love. Of course there are going to be dorm-dwellers who will rarely step out of the McGill bubble, but there will also be “those” drunks. McGill is so diverse (since the last time I visited) that for sure there will be a niche for you. I think quality of social life is a factor that should be taken into account because who wants to spend four years of their life feeling like they’re in the $h1tter? Good luck with your decision!

P.S. The Dress is one of my favorite songs (if your username is an allusion). :)
