I was wondering if there are any schools that give out good OOS scholarships to make the college tuition atleast under 15k a year while being a party school.
I’m going into ME so I will have a lot of work but I still have the work hard and party harder mentality.
I know CU Boulder and State can give a high amount but money but they tuition is so high that it offsets the scholarship.
I have 3.7 UW and 3.93 W gpa.
30 ACT, 31 Superscore.
I’ve also worked since sophomore year.
If you considered Colorado State, look at Wyoming. They have a similar vibe, but Wyo is smaller. Both are in the same football conference so games as similar Good engineering at Wyo, and lots of OOS scholarships. Also Montana State and Montana.
Are you looking to pay $15,000 for the total cost…or $15,000 for tuition? FYI you will find parties at all schools… is there something more appealing about leaving your state to party ( not trying to be sarcastic)? West Virginia University has merit that may get the cost down to what you can pay.
In your other thread you say you have a 3.7 UW GPA and 30 ACT. Are you from Utah? If the 2 Utah schools you mentioned are financial safeties make sure you apply to at least one of them. How much are your parents willing/able to pay without borrowing?
You can look up automatic thresholds for merit at Miami Ohio, for most kids with ACT 31 above with good grades it equals out to instate flagship tuition, more if honors program.
KU and KState are in state for me but they are very similar to where I live so I want to get out. Also I wanted to find good school options in the mountains, I love the mountains, but they are so expensive
I’m applying to Utah state. I visited them and the U and I liked state more. The only issue is that I think the LDS culture prevents most partying except for school sponsored parties
How much is your total budget? Even the U will cost over 15K if you dorm. Your U of Utah scholarship is probably no more than 2500, maybe you will have fulfilled regents? SLC is going to have way more social options than Logan. Your hard core LDS pals will be out in the other valley. Make sure you apply to the U.
I don’t know about parties (Niche gives them an A- on Party Scene) but looks like Southeast Missouri State would automatically give you a Copper Dome scholarship and a Redhawks Achievement putting the cost under $12,000.
You’re from Kansas then, right? People might be able to give you more options if you answered the questions about your budget.
Is your budget $15k/year TOTAL or is the $15k just for tuition? How much will your parents pay per year?
A budget of $15k won’t get you far. If your parents will pay $15k for tuition plus $12k for room and board then you could afford a ($30k) SUNY school if you took the $5500 federal student loan. If they’ll only pay $15k total you’d be $10k short for a SUNY even if you took the student loan. Your budget matters. We could give you more options if we knew what you can spend.
I would like to keep just the tuition below $15k.
So my budget is $15k + room and board and it seems like my parents can give about $6k a year to help out with room and board / tuition.
