do colleges look down upon pass/fail classes eventhough they can help raise GPA? i am debating whether or not i should take a pass/fail for a class that isint that important to me. i know that i can get in A in the class because it is an easy elective, but it will lower my GPA if i keep it as an actual grade?!?! i was thinking about printing out my individual grade sheets to show that i got an A when i send i my apllications. i have a good shot at being #1.as of now i m #2 in my class. i am not doing it because i need it, i am simply making use of the options available, but i am not sure if top colleges will see it that way

it would be nice if i was given some feedbak

I thought pass fail classes don’t count on GPA?

You’d get more responses in College Admissions, not HSL.

porkperosn, they dont count on your GPA. They are optional though, and some say that colleges dont like them but who knows

They don’t impact GPA, so I’m not sure what you’re asking.

Yeah, they don’t count in your GPA. I say go ahead. A lot of people in my school do it so they can take an elective or something and not have it drag down their GPA because it wouldn’t be weighted like with an honors/AP/IB class. As long as its not for a major core class (like english or math) or something then I’m sure colleges wouldn’t mind.

At DD’s high school, some course were offered as pass/fail only. I never gave it a second thought about how it would look on a transcript. How would a college know that that wasn’t the only way a course was offered? I think that you are overthinking.
