Pass/Fail System

What's Columbia's pass/fail system like: how many classes can you take pass/fail, which classes, etc. Thanks guys.

Do they have one? I thought only Brown had such a system.

I think you are allowed 2, non-core classes per semester.

I believe it's one class per semester, not counting classes that are only offered p/np.

Individual departments have their own rules, however, about whether or not you can take any classes for your major p/np. (For example, the first economics class Principles of Economics may be taken p/np and still counted toward the major, but all other classes required for the major must be taken for a grade.) So, combined with core classes which must be taken for a grade, that somewhat limits the option.
