Pass/No Pass Hurting Transfer

I am interested in knowing whether or not a “Pass” grade looks worse than a letter grade does to Adcoms.

This class would NOT be for my major. I am fulfilling GE requirements with it (it’s a philosophy class) and it is not a requirement for any school.

I think that passing it would be a smart move as I have heard my professor is difficult. But I don’t know if that looks bad to UC adcoms.

Thank you everyone for your responses in advance!

It’s fine. I had 12 units of P/NP (all GE) and got into Cal and UCLA. A 5-unit language (although I took a higher 5-unit for a grade), a 4-unit science, and a 3-unit.

The UC system allows transfers up to 14 semester units of pass/no pass credit. This will not hurt your chances of transferring to any of the UCs, unless it’s a major course, which in your case it’s not.

Feel free to take advantage of this transfer tool, as you can easily save your GPA from a course you may have not done so well in.

Best of luck!
