Passion in sport, but not super-athlete

How is it weighted if you are passionate about a sport, and yet you are not nationally recognized at it. For example, I started playing tennis only 1-2 years ago, although I learned very quickly (over the summer and throughout the year before spring) and made it on my school team. I'm practically addicted to the sport, and I'm even thinking of training other members of the team in the off-season, I also take group lessons every week during fall/winter, and every day in the summer (also private in the summer).

Can I mention on an app that I spend so many hours playing this sport in the offseason, doing group lessons, or training lessons, aside from actually playing in the season for the team? How does it weigh?

if you're not a recruited athlete, participating in sports is seen as just another EC (such as band, newspaper, etc). great that you do it and show well roundedness, but not enough to tip the scale in either direction.

Work that passion for tennis into one of your essays

I second laxguy8947, that way it will show how passionate you are about the sport.
