Passionate about medicine, but chemistry is sometimes hard to come by

Hi, my name is Paul. I attend a community college in the suburbs of Chicago. I have maintained a 3.5 GPA or higher and have taken courses in biology and anatomy. I have excelled in these courses but when chemistry came it was a different story. I want to major in something science like, or even psychology, and recently I have been looking at neuropsychology. Does anyone have any recommendations of what would be a good major and minor? I was thinking of going the business path of getting a major in business administration, and then minoring in the neuropsychology, or even biology.

Business and neuropsychology are two very different things. What made you decide on those two? Have you taken any business or psychology classes yet? The truth of the matter is that no matter what you major in, you WILL struggle in some areas and that is perfectly okay. Psychology is a good major if you like biology, but don’t care too much for chem. You might still have to take some depending on where you want to transfer to, but not as much compared to bio majors.

Yes, I realize they are two very different options. But for one, I have always been interested in the neuro standpoint of humans, just overall how the brain works and its anatomy. But I also know that any type of work with the brain, requires a decent amount of schooling, especially anything in the neurology department. Neuropsychology may be my best bet, but then again to get anywhere far in this field, most people receive a doctorate degree. Business administration seems like a good major today but that is only if I am not able to get some sort of science degree. Minoring in biology would be better I believe, simply because from what I have been told finding a job with simply a major in biology is tough. It is good to have a minor on the side. Not sure which path to take, which is why I would ask for some advice. Thank you.
