Past Midterms/Exams?

What's the best way to get a copy of a professor's previous exams? Thanks! :D

depending on the class and professor, you might be able to find them online... other than that, you have to make friends with a past student...

I'm trying to buy some from people who are trying to sell their textbooks of my courses.

Thanks guys....

shirleyxY, how did you get in touch with people who are selling the textbooks? (Where did you find them?)

myucla forum

or bruinwalk

Why don't you take a chance and post up the classes? Someone on here just might be able to help.

well, anyone here take ls2 with schien before?

shirleyxY,

I still don't get how you are getting notes from people on MyUCLA. Can you elaborate on that?

funnyman, yes i have... he doesn't allow ANYONE to keep exams not even the scantrons... so, for his class, you're pretty much on your own (btw IMO, his exams are VERY poorly written - just to give you a heads up...)

so the bruinwalk ratings of schein are fairly accurate? do you mean hard or just badly worded?

when i took his class there were many mixed reviews on bruinwalk about him... i personally didn't think he was very good. as for his exams - they weren't hard per-say - they were very badly written. Many of the questions were vague and, i don't know about anyone else but to me, it seemed like there could be multiple answers for some of them... and he claims that he only tests on concepts but its definitely not true - he asked, many times, about specifics things that you would only know if you memorized all the material...

I'm taking one of the schein's classes too. I don't think anyone can understand the concept of bio/psychobiology without memorizing the organelles in the cell/structures and their functions inside brain. Just memorizing stuff is useless, but it's a big lie that you only need to know the concept.

Can you elaborate on that?

The person I was trying to contact said he had no old exams. :(

Go to myucla forum "market place -- textbook" to look for someone who is trying to sell the textbooks of your courses. Ask them if they have any old exams or problem set answers and tell them you are willing to buy.

I'm looking for anything from the biotech cluster class and anything from Math 31A with Fattorini. Thanks :)

Are you guys really willing to destroy your integrity over something as silly as a grade?

Yes, that's actually how a LOT of people transferred in to UCLA.

Then stop it now. Just stop. It's not worth it. Your integrity is worth so much more than a degree, even. It will take you much further.

there's a center on campus that has previous exams for each class, so students can look at. the catch is you've got to submit one of your previous exams into the database.

^
So you still need to have the exams in hand...sigh
