Has anyone heard yes or no about their petition?
@Newtonunit
Petition. Interesting word choice. I like it.
But no, it does not appear that notifications have gone out yet for either the PTA or the DHS. I think it will be very clear when people start getting them. The DHS might come before the PTA, but not sure.
@fallenchemist don’t you think they’d want the kids to know about DHS and PT before they come down for TSW next weekend?
Or am I thinking too much like a parent, given that they’ll reject many more of our darling children for the scholarships than they’ll accept?
Normally they do get the results out before the visit, at least the DHS. The Paul Tulane only has a 2 year history so far, but in those 2 years most of the recipients knew before the end of February. I think they are just running a little later this year, a week later than usual. Whether that is because of an early Mardi Gras or some logistical changes they made in how they reviewed and interviewed people or for some other reason, I am not sure.
But to answer your question, I think maybe in their minds there isn’t so strong a link between the TSW and if they win the full tuition or not. While certainly it makes a difference in some households’ decisions, most of these kids already have the $32,000 Presidential or something close to it. So I guess if I were sitting in admissions I would probably think that if they had a strong interest in Tulane they would come to TSW anyway, even knowing that winning or not winning full tuition could be a tipping point.
What has been the past number of students on campus for a given TSW…estimate? We will be attending March 22/23 and are also hoping to see the UPS man soon!
Wow, I am not sure what is typical. I would say that when we went some years ago there were about 75-100.
@fallenchemist
Thank you for your endless devotion to answering questions on CC and helping my son and I prepare for his years at Tulane! We can’t wait!
D2 received the Paul Tulane award today!! She’s delighted, as of course are we! The Presidential Scholarship put Tulane in play financially; PT means that the other schools are now being compared to Tulane, rather than comparing them to the state school to which she also applied. (For those interested in PT results, some recipients posted on the DHS threads today.)
Darn it… No envelope. A Tulane letter came in but not for the PT Award.
I got the envelope!!! And myups did not tell me anything was en route.
@ackack
Congrats!! You got it today?
Yes!! It came this afternoon – DC metro area. 2d Day Air. Am trying to figure out shipping date – label itself looks like 2/24. This should give hope to everyone because this is a later shipping date than 2/20 and we are only 1 day into the 2-day shipping window!!
That’s what I was thinking. Perhaps the PTAs didn’t go out all at once like the DHS. After all, the PTA does say rolling basis, and also it would explain the large number of DHS reports versus PTA.
Wah?!? Hope springs eternal! lol Congrats @ackack!
I received a very nice email denying me the award
Same here for my DD. A few tears - but life goes on.
Gentle denial email for DD, too. Let the financial austerity measures continue…lol
Did you guys get denial emails for both scholarships? I got one for the PT but not the DHS. But I didn’t get a package and according to UPS nothing is on its way. I also didn’t interview for the Stamps. I checked my junk folder and everything too haha
@ejs371 Yes, denial for PT and DHS were in the same email.
Hmm… that’s so weird. They commended me on getting the presidential so you would think they would mention if I got the DHS. I’m worried that my application didn’t successfully make it there… although I do remember getting a confirmation email. Very confused
