Should I pay the nonrefundable $300 housing advance payment even though I will most likely not live on campus if I don't get a dorm with a private bathroom?

I applied for housing really late but there is a slim chance someone who applied for housing back in Dec. will request me.

I wouldn’t. You don’t get the money back unless you don’t go to UT.

But private baths are really overrated. I thought community baths were gross before freshman year, but it’s awesome to have someone clean your bathroom.

How do the community bathrooms compare to the ones you generally find in businesses? Most seem so downright nasty that I would not set my butt on them.

I’m also afraid of becoming more dirty after taking a shower than not taking one.

I think I might as well make the deposit and suck it up if I don’t get a private bath.

The dorms are still available if I made the deposit on May 1st, right?

You made your 50 dollar housing deposit on May 1st? If so, you aren’t going to come close to anything good.

Yes, sprintuser, using community showers is just like rolling in manure. Most dorms on campus at UT have community baths, so most students who live on campus just get dirtier and dirtier as the year progresses. By now (May), they are not even recognizable as human beings. Stop by campus any time this week and see for yourself.

Haha thanks for clearing that up for me :D

I don’t live close so I don’t think I’ll be able to stop by until June.
