I'm currently signed up for fall '10 classes, but my account statement on the secure apps does not have the fall semester total for those classes posted yet. Does anyone know how long it will be until the prices will appear? Thanks.

At orientation, one of the advisers for the “It’s All Academic” session said that they were still deciding on the cost per credit hour and other fees. An “estimate” is provided here which suggests that the cost per credit hour was about $152, and a letter from President Barron suggested that they’re definitely raising it in the upcoming years.

For state U’s, the tuition for fall/spring and NEXT summer is not determined until well into summer each year. The tuition is going up 15% and I believe most fees are also going up a one time 15%. The University Board of Governors vote was just in the last 7-10 days.

When the tuition differentials and 15% increases were first proposed for the state universities the explanation was to improve the colleges and make them better while getting tuition fees charged closer to national averages. Unfortunately, the increases are only helping the universities stay afloat, not improving them. Too, budget and money woes today with the off economy mean less money is available at the state universities in the form of financial aid for needy students. With the tuition increases and less financial aid, many students and their families are going to have to stretch even more to pay for college or adjust their higher education plans.

State universities need more money, but know it strains students’ and parents’ wallets:

Is there any way to see what the tuition actually is now? It seems like a horrible idea to not let students know about how much they’ll have to pay when we’re this close to classes starting.

I went on today and tuition was posted; USF also just posted their tuition today.

Oh ok. I just checked the SFS page and it still said “will be posted in late July.”

I still don’t see it listed anywhere, but my account statement lists the amount for 3 credit courses as 475.74. So I guess that means the cost per credit hour went from about 152 to 158.58. That’s not bad.

I had to go to secure apps, then make a payment to see my tuition… hope that helps! I only saw it today because I’ve been checking for it religiously since classes start in two weeks.
