<p>I want to know from people that are at UCLA right now, how do you pay for it? I want to know what your efc was and what grants or scholarships that you had attained, or anything that helped you pay for your tuition and room. </p>

<p>My dad was still alive prior to my first year, so my EFC was like 40k and I got nothing from UCLA.
He died my first year, so during the second year my EFC dropped way down to like 6k and UCLA gave me a 9k grant for this (my second year).</p>
<p>Other than that, I applied for a crapload of local/small scholarships in high school and got 5k out of that. The place I worked at over the summer prior to going to UCLA gave me 5k, and then, seriously this is no lie and the nicest thing someone has ever done for me, a lady that lived next door to my mom as a child (who is super freaking wealthy as hell - I mean just rolling in it - She’s senile as hell and her kids who are very financially saavy don’t worry about the money because they have so much, her screwing up wouldn’t make a dent) anyways, she gave me 12k for my first year and 20k for my second year. I’m praying that she remembers me again in a few months. Good reason to keep up my streak of 4.0’s and continually write her a thankyou note and include a copy of my grades :)</p>
