yes, and no.

I get your point, but no that’s not completely true.
Again, I’ll debate with you maybe sometimes later one on one, but I really don’t want to talk about it here.

^^This guy is an insanely aggressive freak. Best of luck at Mudd!!

I’m a Mudder and an international student. If someone were to truly take out $200k in loans to fund Mudd, that’s reaallyy ill-advised. Mudd is a good school but $200k in loans is crazy, period. In any case Maruhan, aren’t you already paying expensive private school tuition? You won’t reallyy be taking out $200k in loans, right? I hope not.

of course not. and yes I am already paying quite a heavy tuition for my high school.
But it is true that we will be in some formidable loans

urggg…
this thread did not turn out where I wanted to…

maruhan2 -

Most people do not fund the bulk of their educational expenses with loans. And, if they find that they must do just that, most will choose institutions that are less expensive (and will result in a lower loan burden). It is entirely possible that there are so few others who are in the same position as yourself that none of them have yet seen your thread.

If what you want is validation that you are making the “right” choice, you may need to look elsewhere.

host is taking some risks, but it is up to him to choose to take such risks. Wish you all the best!!!
question: i want to get undergraduate course in UT in austin or MIT or any othe uni that offers good aero/astro engeneering prog.
if anyone knows which is better in terms of cost/effectiveness?? is it possible to get a loan, unfortunately neither my family/me are/will be able to afford to pay all costs

Best of luck Maruhan. I’d be way too cautious to take out such hefty loans myself. I can only assume you have a very specific plan in mind.

I also will be funding my whole college education through loans. A private student loan since I have an uncle living in the US willing to be my cosigner. The thing is that my family is unable to help me out for college right now but if all goes well then I should get a little help from them in 4 years. If not everything goes well…well I’ll have four years to figure out a plan b and c. Although I don’t know where I’ll be going to school yet I know I won’t take out 200k in loans but it won’t be a small amount either. This may sound naive but I believe if you’re committed to it there’s always a way.

Well, I’m not rich but I guess I can afford a reasonable public school.
In fact, I just got accepted in U of Minnesota.
And I also applied to Canada universities.

My parents spend enough to raise me, I don’t want to burden them too much with university.

The thread went kinda off-topic. The OP already said he didn’t want to discuss it, so there’s no point to post multiple times about the same thing and calculate costs and such. Though I do understand that some are just warning the OP for his own good and because they worry about him, not bashing or anything.
